In typical Greek fashion, Halkidiki has some incredible historical sites to marvel at. The Temple of Ammon Zeus is particularly fascinating, whilst Nea Fokea is close by and houses a 15th century church, so Kalithea’s in prime place. Buzzing Thessaloniki has many museums to meander around, too. Why not spend an afternoon wandering around the resort? Kalithea’s extensive shopping area is ideal for time away from the sun. Boasting the largest shopping centre in Halkidiki, the resort has it all – especially if you’re the fashion-savvy type. Buy shoes, clothes, and even some excellent bargain souvenirs. Calm days are followed by exciting nights. The bright lights of the main strip are calling, so get ready to dance until dawn. You’ll be met with a vibrant street, complete with stylish bars and swanky clubs, so if you’re looking for a bit more evening energy, you’ve found it.

Holidays to Kalithea take you to an up-and-coming seaside town in northeastern Greece for lively bars, authentic tavernas and long stretches of white sand. And for a bit of old Greece there’s the quaint Afitos village just 5 minutes’ drive away. Kalithea is a modern seaside town on the east coast of the Kassandra Peninsula, way up in northeastern Greece. There’s a lively main strip with late-night clubs and stylish bars, plus a charming old town where tucked-away tavernas serve up authentic Greek cuisine. The long, sandy beach is backed by luxury hotels, and while it’s all go here, you’re just a 5-minute drive from the old-world charm of Afitos village.

Kalithea’s lively main beach is a long stretch of white sand dotted with umbrellas and sunloungers. A couple of sandy Blue Flag beaches are nearby, too. For starters, there’s Bousoulas Beach at Sani, 20 minutes’ drive away on the other side of the peninsula, which comes with crystal-clear water, beach bars and tavernas. Then there’s the quiet Kryopigi Beach, just 5 minutes down the road and backed by dense pine forests. The village of Nea Fokea is about 10 minutes up the coast. Here you can tour a 15th-century Byzantine church, and from its hilltop setting see out across the ocean. You could also drive 20 minutes to Sani and take a 2-hour out-and-back walk along the clifftop forests – along the route you can spot lizards and turtles, plus see the ruins of a Roman villa. For more ancient finds, there’s the Archaeological Museum, an hour’s drive away in Polygiros.
